Budgetary certainty and adequacy are the two items at the top of the priority list for General Carter Ham (USA ret.) as he becomes the Executive Vice President of the Association of the United States Army. General Ham recently completed his work as the chairman of the National Commission on the Future of the Army. Before his retirement from the Army, General Ham commanded U.S. Africa Command, U.S. Army Europe and the 1st Infantry Division. He is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Odyssey Dawn and Operation Able Sentry. He discussed how the Commission’s findings will inform his work at AUSA, and how the budget problems are affecting the Army on the front lines.
