Johnson: 2017 NDAA a tale of two chairmen, McCain & Thornberry

The House and Senate versions of the National Defense Authorization Act are headed for a conference committee to reconcile the bills. It’s not official yet because the Senate hasn’t passed its version; but it’s pretty obvious from where the bills stand right now. Justin Johnson is Senior Policy Analyst for Defense Budgeting Policy at the Heritage Foundation, and former Military Legislative Assistant for congressman Doug Lamborn of the House Armed Services Committee. He writes in War on the Rocks…under the title “A Tale of Two Chairmen: Adventures with the Defense Budget.” He discussed his piece, and what’s next in the process, on National Defense Week.
