O’Keefe: debate over military compensation could be a family affair

A high-level look at building the military of the future took its latest step forward this week. The Bipartisan Policy Center’s Task Force on Military Personnel, headed by former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, former Marine Corps Commandant & National Security Advisor General Jim Jones, former Senator Jim Talent,  and the CEO of Blue Star Families, Kathy Roth-Duquet, released its examination of military compensation. One of the biggest take-aways may be that this debate may become a family affair, involving military spouses as well as personnel. Sean O’Keefe is senior policy analyst for the defense task force at the Bipartisan Policy Center. He discussed the work on National Defense Week.
