Pottenger: women will succeed in new military roles on talent

Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter names the first female combatant Commander in the history of the US military. Air Force General Lori Robinson will be the nominee to become the new commander of US Northern Command. Her selection is the latest in a stream of successes for women taking jobs and roles in the military. That stream has intensified in the past year. Vice Admiral Carol Pottenger (USN ret.) is former Commander of Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, and owns many firsts in her Navy career. She discussed the growing roles of women in all aspects of the military via Skype on National Defense Week.
