Von Ah: DoD has tracking problems with base, OCO O&M dollars

Defense Secretary Ashton Carter says President Obama should veto the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act the House Armed Services Committee has proposed because of how it moves money from the Overseas Contingency Operations budget to the base budget. But the Department isn’t keeping track very well of the money that it spends on operations and maintenance from its base and OCO budgets. Andrew Von Ah is Acting Director for Defense Capabilities and Management Issues at the Government Accountability Office. He discussed his work on this issue on National Defense Week.
