Hyten: China, Russia closing fast on U.S. capabilities; slow acquisition is problem

The United States may be losing its advantage in space as Russia and China gain technological ground on the U.S. military. That warning came this week from Air Force General John Hyten. He’s commander of Air Force Space Command, and President Obama’s choice to become the next commander of U.S. Strategic Command. His nomination hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee this week included an exchange with Committee Chairman Senator John McCain about the threats of China and Russia from space. That exchange was highlighted on National Defense Week.
